How could you tell if mink fur is real?
Because fake stuff feels like a cheap loo brush!
You can pluck a few hairs out and burn them with a lighter. Real fur smells funny like hair when burnt, where as plastic just melts with blackish fumes.
The other way to tell is that faux stuff is not biogradable (well when it does after a few hundred years it decomposes into a load of environomentally harmful chemicals) and doesn't recycle easily. Real fur is renewable and doesn't do this!
Generally with mink fur (unless it's sheared to remove the guard hairs) you'll see that there is a distinct difference between guard hairs and soft under fur. Synthetic fur is not very good and therefore can not replicate this very well. Also feel for stitch lines where the pelts join.
And before the silly anti fur freaks yap on, most mink are humanely handled and are kept in far better conditions than animals farmed for meat or dairy. It's so annoying when hypocrites will say it's cruel when they continue to eat meat and wear leather. If you're a true vegan, then that's a different matter and respect your decision.
