how to turn a long sleeved dress into a tank dress?
My mom bought me this dress from Macy's. It's OK, but I really, really, hate the sleeves on it. It's 3/4 length, but I was wondering if there's any way to turn it into a halter or spaghetti strap dress to make it feel a little more modern.
My grandma is a sewer, is there a way she and I could do it? I really don't want to pay for an alteration.
Oh yea. That's easy. My mom was a seamstress too. Just cut off the arms. Use the extra material for straps, either halter or spaghetti. The neckline also needs to be cut down. She may be able to do the halter with extra fabric from the cut. If you just want a tank dress just cut the sleeves off, cut the neckline area down below the collarbone & hem straight across. The trick is to cut clean, sew straight & allow for hem on anything you sew. I'm sure your grandma would be happy to do for you. It would be fun to see a pic before & after. Have fun!
